A new colourway for the season, this edition of the Nike Daybreak features pure platinum tone lightweight nylon uppers, solid black accents and gym red suede overlays around the front of the foot, laces border and back of the heel. As an accurate recreation of the original 1979, this version has modern fabric and detail updates which ensure a high quality finish suited to casual everyday wear. Strengthening a key area, textural suede wraps around the edge of the toe vamp whilst above the lace fastening is held in place by a border of the same fabric with a woven branded label wrapped around the top edge of the tongue. Adding signature branding to the design, solid black Swoosh ticks sit on either side of the foot with tips that continue to the back of the heel where a shaped overlay panel provides a background for bold ‘Nike’ lettering in white. Below this, a large gym red suede panel protects a key abrasion area and throughout the inside of the shoe a soft fabric lining has been added for comfort. Underfoot the white foam midsole widens at the heel and the black rubber waffle outsole features a distinctive grip-focused tread pattern for reliable traction when worn across different terrains.

Originally created for American runner Joan Benoit Samuelson and aiding her in winning gold during the first women’s Olympic marathon in 1984, the Nike Daybreak has remained one of Nike’s most influential models since its debut and was recently reintroduced in late 2019 with modern updates and materials that showed off original features and the models striking look. Adding a vintage touch to any casual ensemble, the striking aesthetic takes you straight back to the ‘70s with a focus on comfort and style at the core.
